"ENERGY -- WATER -- FOOD: IN SEARCH OF RESILIENCE"
The world's water, energy, and food systems are tightly linked in the so-called energy-water-food nexus. Water is needed for almost all forms of energy production; energy is needed for the treatment and transportation of water; and both water and energy are needed to grow food. The world's growing population and increased prosperity will put pressure on these vital resources in the coming decades. As a consequence, by 2030, global demand for water, energy and food are expected to rise by 40% - 50%.
So a need for better stewardship of these vital resources by working across industries and sectors will help address the challenges and opportunities arising from their complex relationship.
