NileTESOL Conference 2014
We are pleased to announce the Eighteenth Annual NileTESOL Conference 2014 which will be held on January 28th and 29th, 2014, at the New Cairo Campus of the American University in Cairo, Egypt. The theme of the conference this year is "Navigating a Way Forward: Innovating & E-novating in TESOL".
The overwhelming number of possibilities arising from globalization, advancements in technology, changing expectations, and the evolving nature of the classroom, has blurred the boundaries of when, where and how teaching and learning happen. While daunting, these possibilities are also exciting if educators can successfully navigate a way forward by taking advantage of the opportunities created. Through knowledge, creativity, flexibility, collaboration and cultural awareness, educators become innovators and e-novators. Innovators and e-novators transform the change and uncertainty surrounding them by building communities that foster participation, communication, and cooperation. In the language classroom, building cohesive communities involves a fresh approach to curricular design, instructional methods, assessment, research and technology as well as the development of relationships and networks among teachers, students and other stakeholders. The resulting innovations will give both educators and students the tools needed for success in the 21st Century.
This year's conference is organized by TESOL interest section threads: General English, Young Learners, Secondary Education, English for Academic Purposes, English for Specific Purposes, Technology, Teacher Education, Assessment of and for Learning, and Pedagogical Administration.
The NileTESOL 2014 Conference will also feature a testing colloquium, concurrent sessions, panel discussions, 20/20 sessions, poster sessions, debates, and a book exhibition. Keynote speakers are sponsored by the United States Public Affairs Section of the Embassy, the British Council, and various publishers.
